01Why is the SCROOSER ridden standing up only?+−
It comes down to how the machine is classified. With no saddle, the SCROOSER stays in the bicycle category, which is what lets us use cycle paths, the embankments and the parks, precisely where our route goes. Bolt a seat on and it becomes something else, and the good roads close. The side benefit: standing, you see over crowds instead of into them.
02SCROOSER, e-bike or chopper, how do I choose?+−
The route is identical on all three; what changes is your stance. The SCROOSER is our flagship, you stand, push off once, and the motor takes the hills. The e-bike suits anyone who would rather sit and pedal lightly. The chopper is low, feet forward, with just a light turn of the pedals. Undecided? Take the SCROOSER. It is the machine we are named after, and it is what most people come to try.
03Can I manage it if I have never stood on one?+−
Yes, and most of our guests never have. Before we leave we spend about ten minutes in the courtyard on the basics: stepping on, braking, turning, setting off. We only ride out once everyone is comfortable. If you can stand and stay balanced while walking, you can do this.
04Can one group mix SCROOSERs, e-bikes and choppers?+−
We can, and we often do. Just tell us ahead of time so every machine is charged and waiting. The route and the pace are the same whichever you pick, so the group never gets strung out.
05Do I need a driving license?+−
No. No license, no registration, no paperwork of any kind, the machines fall in the bicycle category, so there is nothing to produce and nothing to fill in. You turn up and ride.
06Is a helmet required?+−
We hand one to you at no extra cost and we recommend wearing it. Every helmet is disinfected after each ride. Bring your own if you prefer.
07What is the weight limit, and what age can ride?+−
The machines carry up to 130 kg. Riders can ride on their own from 15. Children aged 12 to 14 may join if a parent or guardian rides with them, and should have some scooter or bike experience already. If you are unsure, message us before booking rather than after.
08What should I wear?+−
Closed shoes above all, the route is cobbled and you are on your feet. Beyond that, whatever you are comfortable in; anyone in a skirt or dress usually prefers something that works with a standing posture. We lend sunglasses and gloves depending on the season.
09What happens if it rains?+−
A rain shower does not stop us. We hand out ponchos and carry on, and a rain-emptied Prague is worth seeing. Settled heavy rain, storms or snow are different: we call it off ourselves and refund in full, or move you to another departure time if that suits you better.
10What are the cancellation terms?+−
Cancel more than 72 hours ahead and you get everything back, no questions. Inside 72 hours the booking is non-refundable, at that point a place in a group of eight rarely gets filled again. If you want more flexibility than that, add Trip Protection when you book.
11What exactly is Trip Protection?+−
An optional add-on that moves the line from 72 hours down to 24 hours before your ride, cancel by then and you are refunded. It exists for delayed flights, illness, and days that simply fall apart. You add it in the basket when booking.
12Can I pay by card at the meeting point?+−
Cards are not accepted on the day. Pay either online when booking or in cash on the day. We take Czech koruna, euros, dollars and pounds. Paying ahead is simplest, and means you arrive with nothing to sort out.
13Do people tip the guide?+−
It is not expected and never assumed. If the ride landed well, guides accept cash or a QR payment, and a review helps us at least as much, if not more.
14When should I arrive, and what do I bring?+−
Be there 30 minutes before the start time, that covers the paperwork, setting the machine to your height, and the first practice laps in the courtyard. Bring photo ID (a photo of it on your phone is fine) and closed shoes. Helmet, water and wet-weather kit come from us.
15Where do I find you?+−
On Saská in Malá Strana, two minutes from the Lesser Town end of Charles Bridge and just off the main tourist current. Tram to Malostranské náměstí, or metro A to Malostranská. There is no parking at the meeting point; the nearest garage is at Hotel Kampa.
16Can I leave my bags with you?+−
Yes, suitcases and backpacks go into the office and wait there until you are back. It is most useful on departure day, when the hotel has already taken your room.
17How large are the groups?+−
Shared rides cap at eight riders per guide. Past that you cannot keep a group together at traffic lights or hear a question without shouting. Larger parties go out as a private ride with additional guides; send us a note and we will build it around your group.
18Do you run private tours? And can I hire a machine without a guide?+−
Private rides yes, but not through the online basket, write or call and we will build the slot and the guide count around you. Unguided hire, no: the route runs through places that need someone who knows the traffic and the rules, so every ride goes out with a guide.
19What language is the tour guided in?+−
Shared rides are guided in English or Czech. The website is available in eleven languages, while the commentary on the road is in one of those two. Ask about private rides, where we can sometimes arrange another language.
20How far ahead should I book?+−
In season, groups of eight fill several days out, mornings and weekends first. Off season, a day ahead is usually enough. If you only have one free morning in Prague, book it early rather than hoping.
